Supplements & Nutrition
Professional-grade supplement, nutrition and vitamin brands, plus the online dispensaries and distributors clinics use to stock in-office retail or recommend products to patients. Compared on who can buy, margins, minimums and shipping. Rated with our agencies & services rubric.
Business models only. This page compares how supplement companies and dispensaries work with clinics: who can buy, margins, minimums and shipping. We make no claims about what any product does. Under DSHEA, supplement makers are responsible for the safety and labeling of their products before they are sold, and the FDA can act after a product reaches the market (FDA). Check your state board's rules on selling supplements in your practice.
Provisional: this is an initial research list built from vendor websites (checked October 15, 2026). We have not tested these products hands-on, and we do not publish a numeric score until we have verified pricing and specs against the rubric. Anything we could not verify says “not verified yet”. Ask vendors for written quotes and specs.

In-office retail vs an online dispensary
- In-office retail: you buy at wholesale (from the brand or a distributor such as Emerson Ecologics), hold the stock and set your shelf price. Expect sales tax paperwork: several brands ask for a resale or tax-exemption certificate. Brand MAP policies limit the prices you can advertise.
- Online dispensary: patients order from a platform (Fullscript, WholeScripts, or a brand's own dispensary) and the product ships to them. You earn a margin, commission or rebate instead of holding inventory, and the terms vary a lot. For example, Fullscript's margin is capped at 35% minus the discounts you give patients, and DFH pays 40–50% commission.
- Many clinics do both: they keep a few common items on the shelf and use a dispensary for everything else.
Before you add supplements
- Confirm your state's scope-of-practice rules for recommending and selling supplements.
- Ask each brand for its wholesale price list, MAP policy and return policy in writing.
- If a dispensary stores patient information, ask whether it will sign a BAA (Pure Encapsulations includes one in its terms).
- Keep in-clinic signs, posts and handouts free of disease or treatment claims.
